WHAT, INDEED, would happen if we could all just do our jobs according to our Religious Beliefs ?

 Here are some possible religious exemptions to include.

If you’re an adherent of Wahhabi Islam and you work at the DMV, you no longer have to issue driver’s license to women.

If you’re a Jehovah’s Witness, you can refuse to take Christmas off work. You just show up and do whatever you do all day.

If you’re Catholic and a pharmacist, you can refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control.

If you’re a Quaker you could enlist in the army for education benefits and simply refuse to shoot a gun or fight anyone.

If you’re a Mormon you can get a job at the liquor control board and then refuse to issue any licenses to any bars.

If you’re a Mormon and you get a job as a health inspector you can refuse to issue reports for any coffee shops serving caffeinated beverages.

If you are a Rastafarian, you can work anywhere and refuse to attend any important meeting where you are not allowed to smoke your chalice of herb.

If you are Amish, you can get a job as a high school teacher and then just not show up to work, ever, since children should not be educated past the eighth grade.

If you’re a Christian Scientist cab driver, you don’t have to take anyone to the hospital, even if they’re dying.

If you’re a cop who is also a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, you refuse to take off your pirate regalia and put on your police uniform.

If you’re Hindu and get a job as a USDA livestock inspector, you can refuse to inspect cattle marked for slaughter. A Muslim or Orthodox Jewish inspector might decide the same for pork.

If you’re Jewish, you can get a job at a school cafeteria and refuse to prepare non-kosher meals.

If you’re a Seventh Day Adventist and a mail carrier, you can refuse to work on Saturday and deliver your route on Sunday instead.

If you’re a Jain and a sanitation worker, you could refuse to compact trash because it kills bugs.

If you’re a Hare Krishna bodega employee, you can refuse to honor winning lottery scratchers.

 

I cannot add to this list. It is complete enough for me.

The problem , in part, is our public education system.

People are much more concerned with being politically correct than actually understanding how our laws and our government work these days. The fact that our government is perceived as broken does NOT justify ignoring the laws. It also does not imply you can discard common sense. If you want to have a job with a Christian set of rules, like no homosexual marriage certificates or marriages, then don’t work as a county official. You go to work in a fundamentalist evangelical church where, to a limited extent, you can keep control of who gets married there. To be a county clerk in charge of marriage certificates indicates a certain ignorance of what is going to be expected of you. Even in Kentucky.

The irony is that if the woman was indeed following her Bible, she would be executing homosexuals not discriminating against them.

I guess we should all be grateful she apparently is not a literalist. But then we knew that as she didn’t think her job description applied to her either.

I am not proposing we start stoning or burning people for their sexual practices, for committing adultery, for not believing in the God of the Old Testament ( here’s a question: if people WERE following their Bible  (Leviticus 20:13 NAB), shouldn’t they be executing themselves and their fellow Christians? Logically it says followers of Other Religions and this was before Christianity was invented….It means followers of religions other than Judaism.

I am “just sayin’ “.

But seriously look at the list –

We would be stoning and burning an awful lot of people –adulterers, nonvirgins, cursers, non Jews, infidels, false prophets, people working on the the Sabbath, people who approach the Jewish Tabernacle, fortunetellers, gypsies, and people who don’t listen to the priests ( Jewish).

World population would be decimated. Not very many people left. Anarchy and Chaos would reign. The world, as we know it, would collapse.

Read it. It is all there. I am NOT making this up.

Venture capitalist Tom Perkins came under fire after publicly comparing the experience of wealthy Americans to a deadly Nazi campaign that preceded the Holocaust.

“Writing from the epicenter of progressive thought, San Francisco, I would call attention to the parallels of fascist Nazi Germany to its war on its ‘one percent,’ namely its Jews, to the progressive war on the American one percent, namely the ‘rich,'” he wrote, opening a letter to the editor of the Wall Street Journal.
